Define Scope and Project Scope Statement

Tue Jul 13, 2021 3:33 pm

Got the question -
I have a confusion about define scope and project scope statement ?
Define Scope is the name of process to define the project scope. Now the question is - what is project scope?

You may have many requirements for a project and you need solutions to meet or take care of those requirements. These solutions becomes scope of the project.

So in summary project scope is the work required to meet project requirements. And in Define Scope process you explore what all work you need to do to meet those requirements.

Define Scope is the process of developing a detailed description of the project and product. This detailed description is called project scope statement.

For example - You have a requirement to covey nutrition information to your clients. You need a solution for it. This solution will be the project scope and will be explained in the Project Scope Statement. you are recording a video (identified solution) to convey information, it is the deliverable to meet requirements - scope is solution/deliverable oriented.
