--- Tagging the repository can be done at the beginning also ....version creating and then rollback to previous if any issues. Also it helps for releases i.e most stable and tested version...fundamental concept of GIT and other distributed version controlling tools.

.hence I understand Backup to be best options to avoid rework, but answers seems to be ----- Tag the repository. Can you please explain more.
