Gold Platting and Scope Creep

Both of these concepts are related to uncontrolled expansions of scope and as a project manager we should ensure we keep team focused on project goal.

The difference is
1- gold platting is team driven expansion of scope, like no one asked for a feature but team added it without taking agreement from the stakeholders

2. Scope Creep is, stakeholder asked for change but team did not follow proper change management process and did small change and such small changes become big change

For Gold Platting we educate team for not do things without taking approval from the stakeholders

for Scope Creep we educate change process to stakeholders and also ensure team remind them when they ask for change.
