Project Staatus

Postby nazrulq Tue Aug 01, 2017 1:48 am

Question : During the completion of project, sponsor asked you the send project updates as record.
CPI= 1 and SPI =.9 which one under following you will give the sponsor as updates of the project.

Answer:

1. The project is completed and on Budget and behind the schedule.
1. The project is not completed and on Budget and behind the schedule.
1. The project is completed and under Budget and behind the schedule.
1. The project is not completed and over Budget and ahead the schedule.

Correct Answer : As SPI is less than 1 project is behind the schedule . I do n't know what is the completion status .
Does it also explains the completion criteria.

Can somebody explain!

The Answer should be - The project is completed and on Budget and behind the schedule.

CPI=1 is "on" budget (not over or under)
SPI=0.9 is behind schedule

Can someone correct me if im wrong

My answer :: The project is not completed and on Budget and behind the schedule.

Because, we can firmly say project is completed only when SPI = 1. But here SPI is < 1. When it comes to CPI, the project is clearly ON budget.

good question,

first of all remember that when question is focused on earned value management topic , one should remember that SPI of means that project has earned all its value, i.e. the scope is completed and we should assume that project is complete.
CPI=1 only means project is on track wrt budget .

now if you look outside of EVM area, how do we get formal evidence of project completion.

look at the process of close project/phase.
1. approved final product.
2. final closure report which is also signed off by relevant stakeholders.

During the completion of the project does not mean that project is formally completed

The Question is given SPI = 0.9 , CPI =1.0 and the closing process group but SPI=.9, the project is delayed not as per closing date. Project Manager is giving earn value management status to the sponsor near to closing.
It is not wise to call Project is completed as SPI< 1 but on budget.

Manish there are questions in PMP exam and now those as not so simple as presented in Rita or PMstudy or Christopher Scordo and Izenbridge.
Maximum 85 % to 90% what PM should do. If you can give a break down sequence of PM roles in every process and combination between quality and risk.
Project closure and procurement closure!

Manish can you briefly explain.

You will not find everything in PMBOK.

if you want PMBOK reference you should look at the outputs of close project process to get clue,

To pass PMP is difficult as the answers are debatable! I do n't know how the match with PMI-isms.

Thanks.

Dont really understand how this question is related to PMIsm.
I guess you are thinking too much, based on your participation on forum, I believe you are understanding most of the topics/discussion and you should not be worried so much and just focus on conceptual understanding on KA and Processes

I would suggest you participate in next clarification session and we can discuss on this topic.
