Risk Identification

Postby soniaacp_123 Tue Jul 19, 2016 5:20 pm

While doing development one of the team members identifies the risk associated with the current design, this risk can potentially impact the implementation of future stories, what are the best options to opt for?

1. Call a meeting to discuss the risk and its potential impacts

2. Raise the issue in next daily stand up

3. Wait for next sprint planning meeting and discuss this while making sprint backlog for the next sprint

4. Make a sticky note of this risk and place it at the risk board so it can be discussed after the daily scrum meeting.

As per my understanding, correct answer should be 1 but sample paper mentions 4 as per the correct answer. Can any one please explain the reason why a meeting should not be called.

Because risks need to be discussed in Daily Scrum. Your are highlighting the risk in the information radiator. You will get the help from the right guy as the information on risk is published.

1 is not a right answer, you may not get a right person who can help on resolution, for that the risk has to be known to people and discussed in daily scrum.

Hi,
Why not the Option 2 is correct ?

Risks / constraints should be discussed in daily standup meeting.

The Daily Scrum is a time-boxed 15-minute meeting to synchronize work and create a plan for the next 24 hours.

Here question mentions the risk associated with the current design, which needs to be discussed outside of the daily scrum. In daily Scrum identification of impediments for the Sprint Goal is done. Daily Scrum is not the problem resolution meeting.
The purpose is to see how progress is trending toward completing the work within 15 minutes. The Team often meet immediately after the meeting for detailed discussions, or to adapt for rest of the Sprint work.
