Est & Prioritization of PB

Postby aks14 Fri Apr 04, 2014 4:31 am

Hi All,

Can someone confirm the following as I'm bit confused on prioritization and estimation of PB concepts:

When will be the User Stories be prioritized?(In Story Writing Workshop or while creating the Product Backlog)
Will Product Owner Prioritizes the Product Backlog alone or with customers/team?
Will Team/PO estimates the Product Backlog? and when(while prioritizing the Product Backlog)

Thanks in Advance..

Prioritization is done for product backlog, user story does not represent the priority on its own rather placement of user story in a product backlog represents the priority.

Good Product backlog has to be DEEP ( Detailed Appropriately , Emergent , Estimated and Prioritized ) and this is continuous process. so PO keeps doing prioritization as part of backlog refinement , which is done at first level before the release planning and after that it is done along with the sprint work.

Will Product Owner Prioritizes the Product Backlog alone or with customers/team?

yes product Owner, and he represents all stakeholders to team, so PO must have way to take inputs from customers, users, Technical Architects etc for its prioritization decision, for team its a just PO.

Will Team/PO estimates the Product Backlog? and when(while prioritizing the Product Backlog)

Team does it, and it is part of backlog refinement, as explained on point no 1.
