hi Pankaj,

Why do you feel Risk Identification will be done in project/phase closure? Please elaborate so that we can understand the confusion well

Risk identification is done in palnning stage.
After that we check in control stage for NEW risk.
So last its done in control stage.

Procurement closure comes in Close phase.
So, it is possible that procurement closure happened, but it left some secondary risk that can lead to identify new risks?

Also, in PMPBOK it is written that risk identification is done throughout the project. So, it means that it should be done till project is officially closed?

Pankaj, you are right in your understanding that Risk can be identified through out the project. However think from a practical scenario. If your project/phase is a closure stage, what kind of risk you can identify and what action we can take for it as anyway we are at closure. Definitely when we shall evaluate such risks at closure stage, it should be very low priority Risk because project is already near closure. If not then yes we can't close the project and need to rework to control close that risk

Hope its clear

Yes I got it.

Some low risks can be identified, but it may be possible that that risk has almost negligible effect on deliverable.

Thanks.

there is no guideline on not to include Sponsor,

PM can and should involve all right stakeholders for risk identification
