PMP Q&A clarification

Postby Prembalaji Mon Aug 14, 2017 6:14 am

Q: The deliverable as well as the schedule baselines of your project have been changed three times.
Which of the following is MOST LIKELY the cause of the changes?

1. The lack of clear instructions from project sponsor
2. Incomplete project management plans
3. The lack of a signed-off project charter
4. Incomplete project scope management plans

Folks, can you plz pick the correct answer and the explanation for it .

Just wanted to know the Thought process for such questions .
Cheers,
PJ

Such questions are rare as there is a lot of assumptions in the question, however i would choose option #1 and/or #3

1. The lack of clear instructions from project sponsor - refer to page 32 of PMBOK on role of sponsor, its sponsor who would be involved in such case where multiple changes to project scope/schedule

2. Incomplete project management plans - this is too generic an option
3. The lack of a signed-off project charter - lack[ of unsigned project charter could also be a reason , cause if you dont have a single project charter there could be multiple ppl authorized to approve changes to project.
4. Incomplete project scope management plans - This may result in scope creep but no schedule?

Hi,
For the question below:
Q: The deliverable as well as the schedule baselines of your project have been changed three times.
Which of the following is MOST LIKELY the cause of the changes?

1. The lack of clear instructions from project sponsor
2. Incomplete project management plans
3. The lack of a signed-off project charter
4. Incomplete project scope management plans

I would go for Option 1 - The lack of clear instructions from project sponsor.

However option 3 also looks a valid choice, but might not be best choice. Because having signed-off project charter would help in getting the clear project objectives, but it doesn't guarantee this.. Deliverables including the schedule baseline have been changed three times - it indicates that most likely the project is suffering from the clear instructions from project sponsor. Its Project Sponsor's responsibility to protect project from unnecessary changes, ensuring that project objectives are met.

Thanks

In both of the Contracts (CPAF) and CPFF, the buyer has to pay for the cost incurred. But the main difference is in cost plus award fee the buyer is paying an award fee subject to completion of work.In cost plus fixed fee contact, the buyer pays fixed amount of fee upon completion of all work including cost incurred.
Main difference between two types , Cost Plus Award (CPAF) contract is not subject to ADR or litigation!
