Conflict Management

Postby nazrulq Tue Jul 25, 2017 5:44 am

Main causes in conflict according to the order

1. Schedule
2. Priorities
3.Manpower

4.Technical
5.Procedure
6. Personalities
7.Cost.

According to Rita Mulchay cost is before personalities but other source said least conflict cause is Cost.

Most recommended techniques for conflict resolution in order are as under:

1.Collaboration/ Problem Solving ( Most Recommended) win-win
2. Smoothing/ Accommodating - loose-win
3.Compromize/ Reconciling (General Industry Practice) Middle Path
4. Forcing / Directing win -loose
5. Withdrawal/ Avoid (least Recommended) ; loose-loose

Do not worry much PMP does not ask u to memorize.

techniques are used as per situation given in question, so get yourself familiar with which technique to apply when, forcing should in general be used as lost resort but sometimes when time is of essence it can be very helpful for PM.
