Confusion - Probably multiple correct answers !!!

Postby PrakashBT Fri Aug 21, 2015 7:05 am

Dear all,
Again in scordo test, I came across a confusiong question, where my understanding says options A & C both are equally correct, Ans says option C, please help.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
18. As a project manager, you are concerned with both Prevention and Inspection of errors in a work product. The difference between Prevention and Inspection is:
A. Inspection is work done by the Quality Control (QC) team whereas Prevention is work done by the Quality Assurance (QA) team
B. Inspection refers to keeping errors out of the process whereas prevention refers to keeping errors out of the hands of the customer.
C. Prevention refers to keeping errors out of the process whereas inspection refers to keeping errors out of the hands of the customer.
D. Inspection and Prevention refer to the same activity depending on what stage of the project the activity is done.

18. C - Prevention refers to keeping errors out of the process whereas inspection refers to keeping errors out of the hands of the customer. [PMBOK 5th edition, Page 250] [Project Quality Management]

Thanks & regards,
P

One more example of probably multiple correct answers with equal weightage, below;

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Which of the following is not accurate about the initial phase of a project?
A. The highest uncertainty is at this stage of the project
B. The cost associated at the beginning of the project is highest
C. Stakeholders have maximum influence during this phase
D. Staffing levels are the highest at this stage

Ans: 3. B - At the initial stage of a project, the cost is typically not at its highest. [PMBOK 5th edition, Page 40] [Project Framework]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Attached graph clearly indicates Staffing, Resources and costs all 3 run in parallel and are typically at lowest at the begining/initial phase !!!

Answer to 1 queation is C---which states the difference between prevention and inspection. option 1 is also true but that is not the main difference between prevention and inspection.
PMP exam is different in way that you will have multiple correct answers...and you need to choose most appropriate answer. In my pmp exam there was a question with no option as a correct answer that we learn. So choosing option from given answers becomes challenge and is time consuming in exam.

Answer to your second question can be found on Pmbok page 40 second point. Read it and think it over again and then choose the most appropriate answer.

Also, Figure 2-9. Impact of Variable Based on Project Time on page 40 PMBOk should also help you.
