Control Quality

Postby coolpmp69 Tue Feb 24, 2015 6:00 pm

Control Quality is the process of monitoring and recording results of executing the quality activities to assess performance and recommend necessary changes. To evaluate control quality output data, the project team must ideally have a working knowledge of:
1. Prevention and inspection
2. Sampling and probability
3. Special causes and random causes
4. Tolerances and control limits

I guess Option 1 seems to be more appropriate!

2. Sampling and probability is correct answer but why not option 1?

I think prevention should be done before control quality (during quality assurance).
During control quality, in large projects, we may need to do more sampling checks, so team may need to have a working knowledge of statistical control processes (sampling and probability) to evaluate the data of control quality.

I think I overlooked the question and Option 2 seems to be correct since it is talking about To evaluate control quality output data.

Option 1 (Prevention and inspection ) and especially inspection is what we do while performing control quality process.

I think while referring to Page # 250 , 1st sentence of the 2nd Para , PMBOK Guide Fifth Edition , it gives some hints which states that " The project management team may have a working knowledge of statistical control processes to evaluate data contained in the control quality outputs."

Thanks.

Based on Ranjit's input, the answer should be prevention and inspection then given in PMBOK.

No. What it hints is the Statistical Control Processes/Statistical Process Control (SPC), which is a method of quality control that uses statistical methods.
( Reference to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statistica ... ss_control )

So , the correct Option # 2. Sampling and probability

Thanks

The question can be looked as which of the following tools/ techniques used in Perform Quality Assurance.
