HR Question

Ray is using an organization chart to figure out how he will staff his project. What process is he performing?
• Plan Human Resource Management
• Acquire project Team
• Develop Project Team
• Manage Project Team
I answered it as C. But wrong! Why is A correct answer?

Hi bandarna,

The PM is actually planning for Project HR Management.

The HR Management Plan includes:
 Roles and Responsibilities <---------
 Role and Authority Level(s) <---------
 Responsibility Areas (RACI) <---------
 Skills and Competencies
 Lines of Reporting
 External and Internal resources
 Project Organisation Chart
 Staffing Management Plan

The question is referring to one of the T&Ts for the Plan HR Management - Organizational Charts & Position.

I'm learning and studying for my PMP too. Seniors & PMPs here, do correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

In general the HOW part is done in all planning process and doing part is done in executing process.

Plan Human Resource Management—The process of identifying and documenting project roles, responsibilities, required skills, reporting relationships, and creating a staffing management plan.

and the first tool and technique of this process is "Organization Charts and Position Descriptions"

If you focus on tools of HR process - you should get this kind of Qs right easily plus understand difference between various HR process.

Develop Team means developing each individual or team in terms of skills/competencies/career to do project work
While Plan HR Management includes developing HR Management plan ( it includes staffing management plan).
