Passed ACP exam. My experience / how I did it

Postby das Sun Feb 16, 2014 4:49 pm

Hey all,

PMI-ACP is very very easy compared to PMP. Was able to finish the ACP exam in 90 minutes including review of marked questions. Actual given duration is 180 minutes. Also, most questions were straight forward rather than situation questions. My preparation window was from Jan 7th 2014 to Feb 14th 2014. Spend around 4 hours a day. On the last two days, I spend around 10 hours a day.

Materials Used:

a) I have been working on Agile projects since 2008 June. For the last two years, my role is Scrum Master. So, I had some good practical scenarios before I started to prepare for certification.

b) Joined the below online course to get the 21 training hours.

c) Bought the below book.

(Mike was on the original PMI-ACP® Steering Committee, which defined the agile-related knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to be tested by the PMI-ACP® exam.)

ACP book from Mike Griffiths

Here is what I did to pass the exam:

# Joined the online course on Jan 7th 2014 (iZenBridge)
# Finished watching all videos on Jan 13th 2014
# Started reading Mike's book and completed the book by Jan 24th
# Paid the fees in PMI web site on Jan 25th and my application was selected for audit
# Was really nervous when I got that Audit email. But, I just acted really fast. Collected signatures from my current boss and mailed all relevant documents to PMI (in PA USA) - Couriered from India on Jan 27th
# PMI received my audit materials and they cleared my audit on Jan 31st
# Took two mock tests from iZenBridge and got good scores (73% and 75%)
# Then scheduled the exam for Feb 14th 2014. Took study leave for two days (Feb 12th and Feb 13th). I was just revising for almost 10 hours a day in the last two days.

# Also, attended a webinar hosted by Saket on Feb 8th.

Hi Saket,
Mike's book is a MUST read for passing PMI-ACP Exam or your materials would be sufficient? I found the book price in Amazon is bit high ( USD 60 + 25 USD postal charges ) also getting it from US to Singapore( where am working at present) takes time. Please advise.

Or do we have any downloadable PDF version of Mike's book , available in net with nominal payment?

Thanks
