Guys -

As Saket and other experts have already said, nothing much is going to change since the exam will be still based on PMBOK v5. You actually do not need any other preparations. I have read those 3 pages of extra tasks which have been added and I do not see any reason to worry for those new additions. They are something which we already know and seen in real life in projects.

Just go and give your exam without any fear with the same preparations. If time permits look for some reputed mock tests providers if they have upgraded their questions, you can opt for them. That's all.

Good luck.

@ramesha:
have gone through the changes but not any mock tests or sample questions on new pattern. Do you have the site where they have the sample questions for new pattern.
One thing I am concerned about is how come 25%(50 Questions) questions change with such a small change.

Can anybody guide please.

Thanks.

Guys -

I guess, I have seen emails from PMPrepcast, PMStudy and PMZest providers whose test are updated, will you check their website?

Tammy Brown
IT Project Manager at National Credit Union Administration
I passed the updated PMP exam!!!

Today is a good day! I passed the PMP exam this morning (Jan 18)! It's been a long journey for me. I am so thankful for this group as reading everyone's posts gave me an idea of what and how long to study.

Here is what I did to study and pass the exam:
1. I took the Virginia Tech PMP exam prep course in March of 2014 and that gave me the framework to understand the sequence of doing PM processes. Prior to this course, I had a hard time retaining the information as I didn't have a chronological mind map of the sequence of events to follow.
2. From August 2015-December 2015, I Read Rita Mulchay's PMP Exam Prep Book in sequence that VT course taught PM processes.
3. In Dec 2015, I Took the 4-day RMC Accelerated Exam Prep Prep course. Even though the course was local, I stayed in the hotel it was being taught in so I could really focus. I left this course with an understanding of what my gaps were and a study plan 20-40 hours over 3-4 weeks) to fill those gaps.
4. Watched iZenbridge videos on YouTube for more difficult concepts like Earned Value Management.
5. Read Rita's book again, this time following the topic Level of Difficulty chart in chapter 1. Took 3 full practice tests using RMC test simulation software.
6. Scheduled my test on a Monday so I could spend the weekend prior with any last minute studying. Again, I stayed at a hotel near the testing center. I checked in Saturday afternoon and tested Monday morning. Read Rita's book, paying attention to the tips in chapter 1 (paying attention to the PMI'isms) and the last chapter on taking the test. Took Knowledge Area and process tests (20 questions each) using the RMC simulation software.
7. Arrived at testing center early. Brought two snacks and water with me. Testing strategy was to do first pass with 2 breaks answering easy questions. Second pass was answering all formula question. Third pass was questions marked for for review.
8. Cried when saw 'Congrats! You passed!'Show less

Thanks Saket.

No where he says he found any difference in exam pattern and neigther he mentions he has used anything different or new to prepare. As anticipated, the exam is almost same and people who are using materials based on PMBOK v5 is good enough.

This will definately give confidence to people who are about to give PMP exam. They can just stick to materials which are available across without any fear. :)
