CMS and RM Tool

Postby huytnn Mon May 14, 2018 9:26 am

Dear all,

Please tell me more about difference between configuration management system vs requirement management tool. In some special case, can RM tool include all CMS's functions/features?

Thanks to all.

CMS is an umbrella of change management and requirement management. RTM and Requirement Management Tool are part of CMS.

According to PMBOK:

[quote CMS is a subsystem of the overall project management system. It is a collection of formal documented procedures used to apply technical and administrative direction and surveillance to: identify and document the functional and physical characteristics of a product, result, service, or component; control any changes to such characteristics; record and report each change and its implementation status; and support the audit of the products, results, or components to verify conformance to requirements. It includes the documentation, tracking systems, and defined approval levels necessary for authorizing and controlling changes.[/quote]

Requirement Management Tool helps requirements and other product information to be captured and stored in a repository. It can support with the process of storing, managing, and maintaining product information.
