PMI PBA: information discovery in facilitated workshop

Postby seema.sonkiya Tue Nov 25, 2014 9:51 am

You, as a business analyst are trying to identify the consensus view of the business and to resolve conflicts between different worldviews. For the purpose, you are planning to organize workshop where key business stakeholders would be involved. Now during workshop, you are considering along with identified facilitator for asking participants to write about their ideas and suggestions and then you are also planning to ask to come up and posting their ideas to the wall. Each time participants introduce a new topic, a new column would be introduced. You also are expecting to explain about what they have written as they go along. Chief business analyst is asking about what techniques you are planning to use in workshop. What will be your answer?

A. Round Robin and Talking Wall
B. Post-It exercise and Talking Wall
C. Post-It exercise and columns and clusters
D. Round Robin and columns and clusters

Here are following key things:

1. Here Group thinking tool is used and objective is to achieve consensus among the participants, so we are using here workshop as a tool
2. For the discovering technique, participants will write and stick on to the wall – so it is Post-it exercise
3. For each new idea, a new columns is introduced on to the wall – Clusters and columns
4. In round robin, facilitator goes round the table and gives opportunity to provide his/her idea. – This case is not described in the question.

Hence as per my opinion, the answer is C :-)
