New agile team member joined in team, his previous supervisor is keep on asking to work on some critical issue in his old project work. since It is affecting current iteration deliverable, because he is focusing on 2 different tasks. As a agile practitioner of current team, how would you handle this situation?

In the above scenario,

As a practitioner first he /she should talk to his previous supervisor to mitigate the work plan. so please provide your thoughts here...?

Mitigation plans like,

i) he may get some back up resource for the new team member, so that the New team member can focus only on critical issue which he handled earlier. due to this current iteration deliverable also goes smooth...

Any different thoughts ?

Thanks
Ragav

The solution depends on the situation. First of all Agile believes in Transparency. We should have shared understanding of the issues. Ideally, there should not be a dependency on a single resource. But still it happens, As a leader of the project, you can negotiate the leader/supervisor of another project to see how best the situation can be mitigated best.

As a leader, you have the responsibility to resolve the impediments. In case availability of your project resource is important then the team has to plan the work accordingly. As a leader, you also need to negotiate that adhoc availability is not good for both projects.
