Analyze and Respond

Postby bs_pani Sun May 29, 2016 3:57 pm

Dear Saket,

Analyze and Respond is the least preferred method of solving conflict. So not sure why it was discussed in details in slide 17 instead of use structure and reveal. So I am bit confused if we need to apply analyze and respond to resolve conflicts.

Cheers,
Bhabani

While 'analyze and respond' is the least preferred, a coach/SM/PM should be prepared to use it in extreme cases - where the conflict has become critical or there is a time constraint. The coverage is more from knowledge point of view, not based on priority. :)

Dear Sanjay,

Do you mean even for all the 5 level of conflict we need to Analyze and Response as describe in slide 17. Then how about the other approach like do nothing, use structure and reveal.

Not really.
Can you paste slide 17 that you are talking about, if you have it handy?

Thanks Bhabani for sharing the slide. Now I understand your concern better.

It is not suggesting you should "Analyze and respond" for all five stages. It just means that if you were to "analyze and respond", this is how you could do it - in a detached manner where you engage the members as much as possible.
Hope that helps.

Dear Sanjay,

I got confused because instead of discussing the most preferred way of conflict resolution which is Use Structure and Reveal, least preferred method was discussed.

Dear Sanjay,

Is there any reason preferred way of conflict resolution which is Use Structure and Reveal is not discussed at length instead Analyze and Respond was discussed.

Bhabani

Use Structure and Reveal are simple to explain, usually the less value adding things are also complex to understand.

In exam , you will not get questions asking about the stage and approach, rather you will get a situation and you need to select the response from the available options.
