Scope validation

Postby KaurP Sat Jul 28, 2018 11:11 am

Why is verification and validation of the deliverables required?

To satisfy the customer requirements
To satisfy the sponsor requirements
To satisfy the senior management requirements
To meet the business needs and project requirements Correct

According to the new examination content outline, verification and validation of the deliverables is required not to satisfy customer requirements but to meet business needs and project requirements.

PMP Content outline:
Verify that project deliverables conform to the quality standards established in the quality management plan by using appropriate tools and techniques to meet project requirements and business needs.

Control Quality: Control Quality is the process of monitoring and recording results of executing the quality management activities to assess performance and ensure the project outputs are complete, correct, and meet customer expectations (resulting in 'Verified deliverable' as key output)
The key benefit of this process is verifying that project deliverables and work meet the requirements specified by key stakeholders for final acceptance.

Validate Scope is the process of formalizing acceptance of the completed project deliverables.
The key benefit of this process is that it brings objectivity to the acceptance process and increases the probability of final product, service, or result acceptance by validating each deliverable.

Are the verification (control quality) and Scope validation processes not followed to satisfy the customers requirements?
