Control charts

Postby KaurP Tue Jun 19, 2018 10:14 am

You are using control charts to perform quality control. Which of these situations does not indicate that the process is out of control and an assignable cause needs to be assigned. Assume that the control limits have been set to three sigma.

One of the point is more than the mean + (3*sigma)

Two points together are more than mean +(2*sigma), but less than mean + (3*sigma)

Seven points together are on one side of the mean.

Three points are on one side of the mean

CORRECT: b. The other two are conditions that indicate the process is out of control.

What does 'Three points are on one side of the mean' mean?
In case of Rule of Seven, there are 7 points on one side of mean. Does this mean if any points lesser than that on either side of mean also shows project is ' out of control'

Thanks!
