Quality Management - Control Quality

Postby Venkat Sun Jun 29, 2014 6:38 pm

Difference between Tolerances and Control Limits (PMBOK Page 250)
Quite confusing. Are they not the same? Could you please give a example so that i can visualize?

Thanks,
Venkat

I think this is pretty straight forward. Basically both are limits but intended for 2 different things

Tolerance - This is to make sure the product produced is with in limits defined. For example, screw's specification limits foo gauge may be

Control limit - this is to make sure the process is within specified limit. E.g. the screws produced today is all within control limits. So our manufacturing process is quite stable.

So the key is one is for product and other for process
