Change control

Postby suresi00 Sun Dec 10, 2017 7:10 pm

You are the project manager for a project, which is being managed under a contract. You receive a change request from the buyer involving a government regulation. What should you do FIRST?
1)Talk with team members to understand implications of the change.
2) Communicate the change to the management to get their inputs.
3) Open up a change control.
4) Implement the change and communicate to the customer.

My answer was to analyze the change before going to ccb. But it being a gov regulation or an urgent one they said directly going to ccb.

What do you think Manish sir?

Justification:Since the change request pertains to a government regulation and the project is being managed as part of a contract, it is mandatory to implement the change. The first step towards that is to activate the change control mechanism.

Every change in the contract scope has to be formally recorded irrespective of it is due to law, or not and if its urgent or not.
Hence its essential to open up a change control mechanism
