project integration management assessment question

Postby rajatahaali Mon Apr 17, 2017 8:28 am

Which of the following options BEST defines involvement of stakeholders in the project?

They are involved in determination of project schedule, deliverables and requirements
They help in determining project constraints and product deliverables
They are involved in determination of resource needs and constraints on the project.
They help in providing assumptions, the WBS and the management plan.

Attempted this question wrongly, however, but request some clarification. I chose option A since collect requirements is one of the most important processes while defining scope. These requirements are collected from stake holders. Also deliverables are accepted by stake holders in validate scope process. Now only thing left is determination of project schedule. This also involves team members which are included in stakeholder.

However, the answer was

"Project schedule is determined by project manager through schedule development and the team and other stakeholders only provide the inputs, so Choice A is not correct answer. Project manager is also responsible to determine resource needs and management plans so Choice C and D are not the best option. However, the team may be involved by providing assumptions and assisting in WBS creation. Choice B is the Best option."

Now can you please clarify if team "only" provides "inputs" into the development of schedule. Isnt team completely involved in schedule development process. How can we compare project managers role in determining constraints versus development of schedule.

Technically all options are correct as stakeholders can have varying role and influence to the project and can help PM is various planning activities.
but If I go by elimination than I will agree with explanation provided in the answer

Yes thats true in case of requirements, however the options also states determining project schedule and thats is something which project does not stakeholders hence you will have to eliminate the option
