In my view, the boundaries of a project generally identify what is included within project work.

We can find it in Project Scope Statement

You may refer below section in PMBOK 5

4.2.1.1 Project Charter
Described in Section 4.1.3.1. The size of the project charter varies depending on the complexity of the project and the information known at the time of its creation. At a minimum, the project charter should define the high-level boundaries of the project. The project manager uses the project charter as the starting point for initial planning throughout the Initiating Process Group.

Additionally, details of project boundaries are drafted in "Scope Baseline"

7.2.1.3 Scope Baseline
The scope baseline is comprised of the following:
Project scope statement. The project scope statement (Section 5.3.3.1) provides the product description, acceptance criteria, key deliverables, project boundaries, assumptions, and constraints about the project.

A project boundary is defined as the point in time that a project or project phase is authorized to its completion. (PMBOK, P:424).

This is the definition of project boundary, Manish could you please elaborate on that?

- Project boundary is defined as a point in time at which the start or completion of the project or project phase is authorized.
- Business case is handled outside project boundary.
- Project team can help in defining project charter but the activity will be outside project boundary definition.
- Approval and funding are handled outside project boundary.
