PMP Exam Content Outline Changes July 2020

Postby shivank Wed Jan 08, 2020 4:04 pm

Hi,

My PMP application is approved and I have to schedule the exam.

There is an update on the PMI website that says - the exam content outline is changing from July 1, 2020 and have given new topics (People, Process, Business Environment) for question allocation. Removed the earlier I, P, E, MnC, C process groups.

Also, it says 50% questions would be from Agile topics.

I have completed prep for PMP and also studied Agile.

My question is - should I go for the new format given the questions would still be the same (around PMBOK 6 and Agile)
OR
You expect that questions would also change a lot (conceptually) from the ones we have in Mock tests and therefore it is advisable to give the exam before June 30 ?

Moreover, I would also like to know your overall view on the upcoming changes in the exam pattern.

Thanks,
Shivank

Hi Shivam, JUly is long way to go, I strongly recommend to take exam with current ECO

PMI has not mentioned on type of questions etc (they never do) but since 50% of questions will come from Hybrid, we expects significant changes. till some feedback is received from students who take Pilot exam we will not have a good view on questions.
So again, take your exam by End of April/may so you have buffer in worst case before the new ECO kicks in July

Thanks,
Shivank

Hi Manish,

Thanks for your reply.

PMI has approached me to give Pilot exam by March 2020.
If I do so - they will give me 20% discount on exam fee.
Also, in case I do not pass - the re-examination will be free of cost.

Now, I am really confused.

Anyways, I am preparing on the old ECO format.

Shivank
